The 2007 China Magnesium & Automotive Conference was staged in Chongqing Municipality from June 28 to 30, sponsored by China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, Society of Automotive Engineers of China, and the Chongqing Government. It is the first of its kind in China, following Chongqing’s success in setting up a national engineering center of magnesium alloy. Some 400 participants attended the event, coming from MOST, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), magnesium associations from Germany, America, Japan and other countries, domestic and overseas auto spare part manufacturers and related research institutes. 

    Themed as “Upgrade China’s Magnesium, Promote World’s Lightweightening”, the conference consisted of four parts, namely the opening ceremony, keynote presentations, exhibition and field trip. Participants held extensive discussions and shared experiences of success.
